While we didn’t find our name based on the premise of a children’s book nor was it from Craig Smith’s hit track, Wonky Donkey, our thinking seems to be much of the same. Although, we have little to no idea what Smith was thinking – have you read the lyrics to that song?
To us, a wonky donkey is the most packed, fully-loaded, to-the-brim, a-straw-would-break-his-back kind of donkey. He’s a wonky donkey.
Born from a love of tinkering, the lifestyle of a (want-to-be) professional hobbyist, someone who simply cannot help himself from improving, exploring and using his hands, Wonky Donkey found its genesis. At this point, we’re a cycling- and outdoor-enthusiast bag manufacturing brand but who knows where the future may take us.
We’re a family-owned and run business based in Cape Town, South Africa. We make everything by hand (none of this drop-shipping stuff) and put our heart and soul into each product. We love what we do and we hope you can find some joy in our journey too.
